The Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) at Notre Dame of Bethlehem presently serves Kindergarten through eighth grade. All classes are held weekly in the school from mid-September till the beginning of May. Kindergarten through fifth grade meet on Wednesday evenings from 4:30-5:40 pm, and sixth through eighth grade meet on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:00 pm. In order to ensure that faith is being fostered in the lives of our parish youth, all children attending Non-Parochial elementary schools should be registered with Notre Dame PREP. Classes are taught by dedicated volunteer Catechists.
According to Diocesan Regulations, all students participating in the CYO program must be enrolled and participating in either the Catholic School or the Parish Religious Education Program (PREP).
Registration is currently open for Religious Education classes for the 2016-2017 school year. The tuition for the year is: One child - $75.00, Two children - $115.00, Three or more children - $140.00. If you have child entering 2nd or 8th grade there is an additional $30.00 sacramental fee per child. Links to the registration forms are provided on this page.
Families who wish to enroll their children in our program are first required to be registered parishioners. If your child was not baptized at Notre Dame, a Baptismal certificate must be presented with the registration paperwork.
The Diocese of Allentown requires each child to have two years of religious education prior to the reception of a sacrament. Therefore, any child beginning 1st Grade at a non-parochial should be enrolled in PREP in order to receive his or her sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion in 2nd Grade. A child who enters PREP at the 2nd Grade age without any previous religious education will be placed in 1st Grade and will need to complete the requisite two-year preparation before the reception of the sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion.
